Ligonier is blooming with things to do this spring! Even with the Diamond Renaissance Project bringing new life to the center of town, all of your favorite Ligonier events will still go on over the coming months! If you’d like more information on what the Diamond Park Renaissance Project is all about, you can click HERE for the Project blog.
In addition to town-wide events such as Soup’s On! and Antiques on the Diamond, many of our members have their own special events going on. There is something for everyone in Ligonier! Visit our events page for all activity listings, but here are a few highlights to add to your list of reasons to Visit Ligonier this Spring!
Fun with Friends:
Grab your friends and try something new this spring! The Kitchen on Main is offering both a Ladies Night and a Cooking Class in March. Ladies Night gives participants the opportunity to create a Natural Spring Wreath Craft while the Kitchen’s Cooking Classes have been described as “Food Network, but live!” Chef Josh Fryer will show and teach how to prepare each dish on the menu for the evening, then the class will come together to sample each course. If you’re up for something a little more daring, sign up for Red Brick Yoga‘s special 8-Week Belly Dancing Series. These beginner classes will teach you the posture, basic foundations, language and style of American Tribal Style Bellydance so you can dance your heart out with whoever you want! Red Brick Yoga also offers many other classes at their studio in Ligonier. Check out the full schedule HERE.

It wouldn’t be Spring without Easter, and it wouldn’t be Easter with Easter Egg Hunts! There are two scheduled in town this year: Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art will have eggs galore in their beautiful gardens that will just be starting to show the first signs of spring. Heritage United Methodist Church will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 in and around the Church. You won’t want your little ones to miss these egg-tra fun community Egg Hunts! Another necessity of Easter is food! The Rotary Club of Ligonier will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast in the Ligonier Town Hall beginning at 8 a.m. on Palm Sunday. This all-you-can-eat meal features pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and drinks. If you need a place for a delicious Easter Brunch, look no farther than Ramada Ligonier. Their menu includes: carved roast beef, carved baked ham, waffle & omelet station, breakfast items & pastries, parmesan-crusted cod, Chicken Marsala, Pasta Guillaume, roasted rosemary potatoes, vegetable medley, salad station, fresh fruit, dessert table & more. Seating is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for this brunch and reservations are strongly recommended.

Spring’s arrival also means it is time for high school musicals and of course…spring cleaning. After wowing crowds with South Pacific last year, Ligonier Valley High School will present West Side Story from March 22-24 at 7 p.m. each night. For information on ticket presale days, visit the link below. You won’t want to miss this fantastic production by our local students!
It seems like when springs rolls around, everyone gets the cleaning bug at the same time. If you plan to start by cleaning out your closet, you will definitely want to visit some of Ligonier’s wonderful apparel stores to revamp your wardrobe. Betsy’s of Ligonier, Song of Sixpence, Post & Rail Men’s Shop and Martin’s Specialty Shop (to name a few) are all bringing in their spring items, so stop in and see what’s new and what you just have to have! Following the clear out of your closet, you may find some household items you’re ready to part ways with. If you need a good place to donate to, Valley Youth Network is in need of clean, quality household items for use in their Annual Fundraising Auction on March 17. One last aspect of spring cleaning to remember is the Ligonier Valley itself! Join your friends and neighbors at the 13th Annual Great Ligonier Valley Cleanup, sponsored by the Loyalhanna Watershed Association. The Watershed is once again seeking volunteers from the community to help beautify our area by picking up roadside litter on various routes throughout the Valley. Individuals, clubs, churches and organizations are invited to participate, and all supplies will be provided. Please consider helping to keep Ligonier the gem that it is!
