2019 Memorial Day weekend in Ligonier is packed with events and activities galore!

This is the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the warm weather.

Book your stay now for a May escape.

One of the best parts of spring is the return of the Ligonier Country Market! Purchase fresh produce and flowers to keep your recipes and yard colorful and fresh. Stop by the children’s garden where every week there is something new to learn and a free craft to participate in. This week kids can paint their own umbrella! Perfect for rainy market mornings, all summer long.  While you’re shopping around, grab brunch from local food trucks, enjoy music from the featured bands, and visit the special features tent. This Saturday the Market will be visited by Spirits of the Mountain Sled Dogs.

Visit the Diamond to view the tulips and participate in The Ligonier Art Walk. Seven Ligonier galleries will be hosting talented local artists along with their work.

While you’re in town, be sure to visit the diamond shops and take advantage of spring sales. LHM Designs will be playing “pick a card win a discount” applies to most items in store.

There is no better way to learn about history than to live it! Spend your afternoon stepping back in time to commemorate 18th-century military at Fort Ligonier. Immerse your family in living history demonstrations, have a conversation with soldiers and officers, and witness history with battle reenactments and artillery firings.

Another great reason to spend your Memorial Day in Ligonier is The Westmoreland County Airshow, an event that only happens twice a year. Spend the day watching military helicopters and planes strut their stuff across the sky. This year’s airshow will also feature the Canadian Snowbirds, who inspire with thrilling acrobatic performances and breathtaking flybys over cities and towns across Canada and the United States.

Visit Idlewild for their Memorial Day weekend and see Civil War reenactors from Carpenter’s Battery and more. Tour an authentic Civil War encampment to see how a soldier lived during the 1860’s, then watch the artillery demonstrations and mock skirmishes! Members of the military can take advantage of FREE military admission this weekend. The general public can also save during Food for Fun Days, with $6 off the regular gate admission with the donation of a canned food item.

After all the walking, riding, learning, and eating. It’s time to relax and take in a show. The Diamond Theater is putting on a production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. Enjoy this production put on by a talented group of young actors. Or relive your childhood and catch a movie. The new live action movie, Aladdin will also be playing this weekend at the Diamond Theater.

Wrap up your Memorial Day weekend with the first Sunday evening band concert of the season. Enjoy a beautiful view of the diamond accompanied by the sounds of The Ligonier High School Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Bring your lawn chair or enjoy one of the renovated diamond benches. Kick off your summer the right way with a treat from the Ligonier Creamery or Abigail’s Coffeehouse

Join us on Monday the 29th. Ligonier will have a memorial day parade and ceremony on the Diamond. Join our town in honoring those who gave their lives for our freedom.
