The Loyalhanna Watershed Association (LWA) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, based at the “Watershed Farm” at the western gateway of Ligonier with a mission to Protect, Conserve, and Restore the Natural Resources of the Loyalhanna Creek Watershed, a 300 square mile watershed in Westmoreland County. Founded in 1971, LWA works to remediate environmental issues through evidence-based initiatives and educate diverse audiences about the value of healthy and thriving ecosystem.

With over 1,500 members and volunteers, LWA focuses efforts in four major areas including water protection, land conservation, environmental education and community outreach.  Specifically, LWA is active in addressing environmental issues by protecting and improving our area waterways, conserving land parcels and riparian corridors, providing educational opportunities to students of all ages, and fostering a watershed stewardship ethic in the communities which we serve.
