Our community is bustling with events within the next month. Don’t miss out!

Here is your inside scoop on three of the Ligonier happenings in August!

The beginning of the month starts with a new event brought to you by the Ligonier Borough, Township and The Ligonier Valley Police Department. National Night Out will be held on August 6 in Ligonier Borough Lot A (across from the YMCA) from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The evening will be packed full of fun activities and education and is designed for you to get to know the officers of the newly-formed Ligonier Valley Police Department, your local fire department and EMS! You will not want to miss the Canine Officer Kilo demonstration at 6 p.m., the Fire and Police Department Tug of War at 7 p.m. and a live-action accident extraction at 8 p.m. Come be a part of the first year of this event and support your local first responders! Later that week on August 9, our town will be taken back in time to the 1950s. The 17th Annual Stroll is back on the Diamond from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.! A staple of this event is a classic car showing of more than 150 vehicles. Other highlights include classic music from Ligonier Radio and a live show by Swing City. Dust off those dancing shoes for a brief swing lesson by Morgantown Swing to prepare you for the dance contest at 8 p.m. Relive old memories with The Scouts and a Pinewood Derby Track and, as always, be sure to stop in your local shops and browse the merchant sales. Do not miss this throwback night on the town! Next on the August agenda is a unique drive brought to us by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the USA ARMY planned motor convoy of various military vehicles across the country on what was then the new Lincoln Highway. The original caravan began at the Ellipse, in Washington, D.C., and ended at Lincoln Park in San Francisco, California. To celebrate this monumental drive, the Military Vehicle Preservation Association is recreating this convoy with as many as 70 historic military vehicles traveling the same route. Due to our town’s unique geographic position along the Lincoln Highway this convoy will be making a stop in Ligonier on August 13. The caravan will drive through town in parade fashion between 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Due to the nature of these vehicles, we cannot be sure of a specific time. The convoy will then park in the Loyalhanna Street Parking lot. The military vehicles will be on display as the convoy members enjoy time at Fort Ligonier, the Lincoln Highway Experience and the town! Make sure to be here to witness this historic drive! Later in the month, join us on August 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Antiques on the Diamond! Walk around town and explore all that the vendors have to offer. With dozens of quality dealers, there is something for everyone! Remember to also stop and shop in your local stores while enjoying your day in town! As always, do not miss our Sunday Evening Band Concert Series! There is one month left to experience community like no other. Bring a lawn chair and set up shop with a few friends and listen to the wonderful music selections. Stop by the shops that stay open late for this weekly event as well!
